Woodstock Police would like to remind everyone that replica firearms can look exactly like the real thing.
WOODSTOCK - Three teenage boys are facing serious weapons-related charges in the Friendly City.
According to Woodstock Police, the three suspects had a replica handgun on them when they approached two young girls in Brompton Park on Friday. The gun was pointed at one of them and threats were made, so the girls left and the boys got in a black vehicle and started to follow them.
Police say the boys drove up beside the girls and pointed the replica handgun at them once again, and they left after one of the girls provided their social media information. The girls reported the incident once they got back to school.
Officers have since charged two 18-year-olds and a 16-year-old. All three of them have been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two of them have been charged with pointing a firearm.
Woodstock Police say replica firearms can be identical to legitimate firearms, so officers treat them like the real thing until they're confirmed otherwise. This means lethal force could be used, so you should never take your airsoft gun out in public.
