The City of Woodstock will have a familiar face serve as the Deputy Mayor in 2019.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Councillor Jerry Acchione will serve as the Deputy Mayor for the Friendly City in 2019.
He explains the role of the deputy Mayor.
"The deputy Mayor is simply a position, that if the Mayor is unavailable for certain events, I would represent the City of Woodstock and all of City Council."
Acchione was elected for the role by his peers last Thursday night. Acchione is one of the most popular people on council, receiving more votes than anyone during the October election, something he says was a true honour.
"I feel very blessed and humbled to receive the most votes here in the City. I never would have expected that, trust me I wish I had known that before the actual election day because I was so nervous, that it was not fun, I was so scared of losing the job and thankful to all of the residents of the City of Woodstock for putting their faith in me."
Jerry Acchione previously served as the Deputy Mayor in 2017 and Shawn Shapton held the role in 2018.
