If you know an outstanding woman or women's group in Oxford County, there is still time to nominate them for the AppreSHEation award.
WOODSTOCK - The nomination deadline for this year's AppreSHEation award has been extended until Tuesday February 16th.
For the past seven years the International Women’s Day committee in Oxford County has commemorated the day by honouring local women who are making a difference. Woman's Advocate at Igamo Homes and committee member Phyl McCrum tells Heart FM what they are looking for from the nominees.
"We are looking to honour the work of a woman or a women's group in Oxford County that outside of their paid employment have, probably on a grassroots level, worked to enhance the role of women in Oxford County. It could be someone who wants to celebrate the actions that their mother has taken - at the past events the six honouree's were 3 individual women and 3 women's groups."
"The award will be handed out at the International Woman's Day celebration on March 8th at the Oxford Auditorium and not only will be handing out the award to the recipient this year but we will also be honouring all of the women who we have received nominations for," McCrum says.
You can submit your nomination by calling Sue Barg at 519-539-1276 ext 319 or online at the International Women's Day Oxford Facebook page.
