We're just outside the special weather statement area, but that could change as the storm system continues.
OXFORD COUNTY - It's going to be a rainy and snowy start to the month of April in Ontario
Environment Canada is predicting a mix of snow and rain across the province for the next couple of days. Warning Preparedness Meteorologist Trudy Kidd tells us about this weather system.
"It's called a Colorado Low, which means it's originating from Colorado. That typically means that you get a lot of moisture coming up from the Gulf of Mexico mixing in with the cold air. It's often a messy weather system for southern Ontario."
Oxford County is not looking too bad right now with 5 to 10 milimetres of rain in the forecast for today with strong winds, plus another 5 to10 milimetres in the forecast for tonight with a risk of thunderstorms.
Kidd says it could be much worse.
"It's possible that on Wednesday areas just to the west of Ottawa, around Renfrew and Pembrooke, they're looking to get 20 to 30 centimetres of snow at this point."
Special weather statements have been issued in areas to the north and east of Oxford County. We don't have one in our area at this time, but that could change as this storm system continues.
