Oxford OPP preaching patience and focus after a fatal weekend in South Western Ontario.
It was a fatal weekend on the roads in South Western Ontario. Two people were killed in separate crashes in Carrick Township and Essex County and two others suffer serious injuries after a motorcycle crash in Norfolk County. Oxford OPP say the stats show we actually have more fatal collisions when it is sunny and bright outside then in bad weather conditions. Sergeant Dave Rektor says people tend to relax when the road conditions are good and they put less of a focus on the roads. He adds the biggest killer on our highways right now is distracted driving as people often allow themselves to get distracted with the radio, eating or by texting or talking on their cell phone. The other three main factors in fatal collisions are impaired driving, aggressive driving and driving without a seat belt.
