You can start booking a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in the SWPH region now, however you will want to check in on your eligibility first.
Southwestern Public Health will start administering booster shots next week.
On Wednesday, the Province announced additional groups eligible for the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. They include the following:
- Individuals aged 70 and over (born in 1951 or earlier);
- Health care workers and designated essential caregivers in congregate settings (including long-term care home and retirement home staff and designated caregivers);
- Individuals who received a complete series of a viral vector vaccine (two doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine or one dose of the Janssen vaccine); and
- First Nation, Inuit and Métis adults and their non-Indigenous household members.
If you are eligible due to a medical condition that requires a doctor's referral or eligible prescription, you can get a third dose 8 weeks after your second.
If you are eligible for another reason, you can get a third dose 6 months (24 weeks) after your second.
