BRANT COUNTY - The County of Brant has made the difficult decision to cancel summer day camps and summer recreation programs for 2020.
Director of Recreation and Community Development Lesley Head says this was not an easy decision.
"Our number one priority when delivering camps and recreation programs is the health, safety and protection of our campers and staff. We understand that given the intense contact within a large camp setting, operating a summer camp would be a risky activity and challenge the health and safety of everyone involved."
Caregivers will be issued full refunds for summer camp 2020 payments. Please be patient with staff as they process the refunds. If payment has been made, they will contact you directly.
Head says the County of Brant summer day camps have always been an opportunity for children to be active together and involved in a variety of games, sports and play. With stringent protocols, the essence of camp is gone.
"The County of Brant has strived to provide a comprehensive camp experience for each participant and we want families to know that this decision was not made lightly. We are working on creative and fun ideas to bring the day camp experience to your home this summer in accordance with provincial and local health authority guidance."
The County also offers a number of online recreational activities for caregivers who are looking to keep their kids busy this summer. A free lending program is available to access recreation and exercise equipment. For more information, visit www.brant.ca/RecAtHome.
