OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County has received a donation of 17,000 surgical masks from Bruce Power to aid front-line healthcare workers responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Warden Larry Martin says they want to extend a huge thank you to Bruce Power.
“On behalf of Oxford County’s healthcare partners, and all the residents of Oxford County, I want to thank Bruce Power for this generous donation of personal protective equipment. We rely on our hospitals and long-term care homes to keep our residents safe. Protecting our front-line healthcare workers, so they can continue to care for those who are ill, is key. In small communities like Oxford, healthcare workers are more than just caregivers. They are our neighbours, our friends, our family, and essential members of our community. We sincerely appreciate all efforts to keep them safe.”
The donation is part of larger commitment by Bruce Power to provide over 100 front-line organizations and Ontario’s Ministry of Health and Long Term Care with 1.2 million pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE), the largest private-sector donation of PPE in Canada to date.
The surgical masks were delivered to Oxford County Paramedic Services in Woodstock, which is coordinating distribution of local donations on behalf of hospitals, paramedics, long-term care workers, primary care physicians and other health professionals. Donations are distributed daily and weekly based on priority level and/or most urgent need within the community.
Oxford County’s healthcare partners continue to work together to collect and distribute donations of PPE among all healthcare partners working in the Oxford County community.
