The Woodstock Fire Department is praising the employees at Burger King after they safely evacuated customers when a fire broke out.
WOODSTOCK - No injuries are being reported after a blaze at Burger King on Norwich Ave in Woodstock.
The Woodstock Fire Department was called out early yesterday evening when a fire sparked at the burger chain. Public Information Coordinator Lisa Woods is praising the employees from Burger King, saying they did an excellent job of evacuating all customers safely and quickly.
"The staff did a good job in evacuating everyone calmly and quickly and calling 9-1-1 so fire crews could rush to the scene quickly."
Woods says the fire is still under an investigation, however they believe it started in the kitchen.
"We had the fire knocked down pretty quickly, there is substantial damage, roughly $20,000 in damage there at the building and we will be investigating the cause but we believe it to be from part of the commercial cooking equipment."
