A longer winter, or is spring just around the corner? Only Charlie knows.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock's own Chilly Charlie will let us know on Tuesday if were going to have a long winter.
South Gate Operations Manager Felise Jones says Charlie has an 80 percent success rate and describes what needs to happen for a mild winter.
"If he sees his shadow then it is going to be a longer winter, so if it is grey and overcast, then that means it's going to be an early Spring."
The centre is celebrating groundhog day with a breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the centre. Charlie will look for his shadow around 8:15 a.m. and breakfast is only $3 dollars and a great event to take the family to.
Then around lunch time you can head back to the centre for the second annual Chilly Charlie Cookoff as 7 local businesses and restaurants compete for the audience and a panel of celebrity judges to see who makes the best chili in Woodstock.
"We call them our celebrity panel: so we have the Police Chief, the Mayor, the Fire Chief, and of course Dan Henry from Heart FM. And then one of our board members will be sitting in on that. And then everybody who comes will get to vote for the People's Choice Award so these 7 businesses will vie for two different awards."
You can buy tickets to the pancake breakfast at a cost of only $3 and children 5 and under are free and tickets to the chili cookoff are only $10. You can buy your tickets from the South Gate Centre now or you can also buy them at the door.
