WOODSTOCK - The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority is worried about a harmless pet Corn Snake that was released at Pittock Conservation Authority.
The snake is not dangerous, they are worried about it surviving the winter. UTRCA staff were notified about the snake and are asking anyone to contact them if they see it. The release of any non-native species could be harmful to the local environment.
If anyone observes this harmless snake, take a picture and report the exact location immediately to Scott Gillingwater, Species At Risk Biologist, gillingwaters@thamesriver.on.ca.
A home for the snake is available, but locating such a cryptic species in the wild may be difficult, so they are requesting the public’s assistance.
