Crews will be using a crane in order to recover what's left of the Chinook helicopter that crashed into the Ottawa River on June 20th.
PETAWAWA - Crews are in the process of recovering the wreckage of the helicopter crash that killed two Royal Canadian Air Force pilots close to the Petawawa military base.
The Chinook helicopter crashed into the Ottawa River on June 20th, killing 32-year-old Captain David Domagala and 53-year-old Captain Marc Larouche. Domagala was from Woodstock while Larouche was an Ottawa native.
The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The Canadian Armed Forces will use a crane to recover the helicopter wreckage from the water, along with the support of multiple barges.
