Oxford Young Entrepreneurs is hosting a DesignJam to identify barriers and brainstorm solutions.
WOODSTOCK - Young Entrepreneurs in Oxford County are invited to a DesignJam session at the Woodstock Art Gallery on March 5th.
The event is put on by a couple of local organizations including the Oxford Young Entrepreneurs at the Oxford Small Business Support Centre. DesignJam will look at some of the challenges facing young entrepreneurs in the County and ways we can support them. Program Coordinator Lindsay Wilson tells Heart FM what they will be doing at the DesignJam event.
"We want to start hashing out some of the challenges and weaknesses and put some things on the table we want to tap into. There will be lunch provided and in the afternoon we're going to pick some of the issues that are most important and imagine, in the best case scenario, how would we design a solution to these challenges."
She notes they have hired a consultant who will present some of their findings on the challenges faced by young entrepreneurs and ways we can support them.
"We've got a grant from a Ministry that has allowed us to hire a consultant that will really help us to get a good understanding of what it is like to be a young entrepreneur in Oxford County and make it a better economic option for people to start a small business in Oxford."
Wilson explains who they are hoping will show up to the day long conference.
"Some of the people we have invited are of course the young entrepreneurs we have worked with; it's really important to get a grassroots opinion on the experience, but we are also inviting the business community in general because there is some opportunity for mentorship and succession planning."
The event is free to attend and you can find out how to register by liking the Oxford Small Business Support Centre on Facebook.
