Woodstock native Charlie Richard was a big part of the gold medal winning Fanshawe men's team in Thunder Bay.
WOODSTOCK - The Fanshawe Men's team won gold at the college provincial championships in Thunder Bay.
One of the key members of the team is second Charlie Richard who is from Woodstock and attends school at the Woodstock Oxford/Regional Campus. Richard tells Heart FM all the Fanshawe teams did really well.
"It was up in Thunder Bay and it was the OTTA Provincials and our team the men's team ended winning the whole thing 5-0 in the finals beating Sault Ste Marie and also the Mixed team won gold and the woman's team won silver."
Richard says he was really happy with the way the team played last weekend and says the final was tight at the start until they finally pulled away.
"It was pretty tight for the first two or three ends, we took two points in the third end and then after that we just built on the momentum and kept going."
Richard has been curling for years and says they have a great thing going with the Fanshawe team which is skipped by Kelly Shuh. With the win they will compete at the Nationals in London from March 23-26.
