A bridge in Woodstock has been closed due to a structural issue.
WOODSTOCK - The Finkle Street pedestrian bridge in Woodstock is closed for repairs.
City Engineer Harold De Haan says this bridge belongs to Canadian National Railway, but the city noticed structural problems during a routine survey.
"We found that there were some deficiencies in one of the supports which could cause a failure and so we notified CN and they requested the City close the bridge until we could fix it."
There is no danger of a bridge collapse - De Haan says the closure is precautionary.
"We met with CN officials last week and they are hoping to have the issue addressed in 2017. From what the consultant identified was that the hazard only was if there are people on the bridge."
