For 14 years, Operation has been providing Christmas cheer to those who may not be able to afford a traditional Christmas dinner. Everyone is welcome to attend the event, whether you would like to volunteer your time to help or just come for the food and friendships.
WOODSTOCK - Operation Sharing will be hosting their 14th annual Christmas day event.
On Christmas day Operation Sharing will give less fortunate people who cannot afford a luxurious Christmas, a day of food, friendship, and holiday fun.
Everyone is welcome to attend the event, whether you would like to volunteer your time to help or just come for the food and friendships.
Coordinator of the Christmas Day event Marilyn Schmiedl explains what goes into making this event happen each year.
"Two to three days before christmas we cook and prepare turkeys and hams and other snacks for the people, we arrange gifts on the stage for everyone because everyone gets a gift of their choice."
Schmiedl says they will be accepting donations next Monday and Tuesday from 9 AM to 4PM.
"People can come and volunteer, and if they can't volunteer their time they can bring in a turkey or ham, that would be appreciated."
You don't have to sign up to volunteer your time, just show up, if there is no work to do you can mingle with the people.
The event will be held at College Ave. United Church from 10 AM to 3 PM.
