Four people from the Toronto area have been arrested in Woodstock after trying to use counterfeit money.
WOODSTOCK - Four people from the Toronto area have been arrested in Woodstock after trying to use counterfeit money.
Police were called on Wednesday afternoon after the suspects tried to make a purchase with the phony cash at a business on Clarke and Dundas Street.
They were given a description of the suspects and their vehicle.
A short while later an alert off duty officer noticed one of the female suspects in town.
Police caught up with the suspect inside a Mr. Sub and then found two others waiting inside the car while a fourth suspect was located inside the Canadian Tire Store.
All four were arrested and charged with uttering counterfeit currency, possession of counterfeit currency and possession of property obtained by crime. The youngest suspect was 20 years old and the oldest was 23 years old.
All four were held for bail hearings and will answer to the charges at a later date in Woodstock Court.
Woodstock Police are asking any merchants who may have received any suspicious U.S. $50 bills to contact police at 519-537-2323.
