A best case scenario would see the initial peak, the top of the curve to happen in late Spring, with the end of the first wave in the summer.
CANADA - The Government of Canada announced COVID-19 projections this morning for the entire Country.
Health officials estimate that as many as 44,000 people could die from the virus in Canada, however the number could also be as low as 4,000. Prime Minister Trudeau says, where we fall in this projection, largely depends on us.
"The modelling shows that COVID-19 arrived in Canada later than other countries, that means we are in the early stages of our outbreak, that means we have the chance to determine what our country looks like in the weeks and months to come. Our health care systems across the country are coping for the time being but we are at a fork in the road, between the best and worst possible outcomes. The best possible outcome is no easy path for any of us."
The initial peak, the top of the curve may happen in late Spring, with the end of the first wave in the Summer. We will likely have smaller outbreaks after that until a vaccine is found. Trudeau says the path we take is up to us.
"It will take months of continued determined effort. We need to continue to practice social distancing, staying home, washing our hands, it will help, it will help get the numbers that Dr. Tam was talking about between 4.000 and 44,000 deaths as low as possible."
Trudeau says these numbers projections are a best case scenario and the outbreak will last much longer if we do not take these precautions.
"We know how difficult this is, if you have kids, it's even tougher, but to get them back outside and at the playground and park as soon as possible, you need to keep them inside, a little while longer. This will work and we will be with you every step of the way."
