Former EZT Deputy Chief George Junker passed away on Thursday July 21st at the age of 69. He dedicated 40 years to the fire service before his retirement in 2019.
HICKSON - A former Deputy Fire Chief for the East Zorra-Tavistock Fire Department has passed away.
George Junker was 69 years old when he died on Thursday July 21st. He would have turned 70 on October 10th this year.
Junker first joined the department in 1979 and stayed on for 40 years, serving as a captain from 1994 to 2011 and as the Deputy Chief from 2011 to 2019.
A memorial message has been posted on the sign in front of the Hickson Fire Station thanking Junker for his service.
A celebration of life will be taking place at his home on 96 Lovey's Street East in East Zorra Tavistock on Saturday July 29th starting at 1:30 p.m. It will be followed by his funeral at 2:00 p.m. and the reception will be taking place at Hickson Park from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
