The keys to the Habitat for Humanity build in Ingersoll could be handed over to the Sweeny family by the end of March.
INGERSOLL - The Habitat for Humanity build on Bell Street in Ingersoll is coming along well.
Construction on the home began this past October and Chief Executive Officer for Habitat for Humanity Heartland says things are progressing nicely.
"We are just at the stage where they are putting insulation in the building. We got a lot of the rough-ins done as far as the electrical, wiring, and framing. So the house is closed in and they're working inside right now. We want to have that completed by the end of March".
The home is being built for Craig and Krista Sweeney and their three children Justice (age 12), Kaidince (age 11) and Gryphon (age 4). Duncan believes the Sweeneys will really benefit from this home.
"They're very much in need of housing - where they were living was not suitable for their kids. Their children have some health issues and the situation they were in was not great. They wanted to live closer and be in Ingersoll for school for the kids and some convenience for them to access services and so on".
The Sweeneys currently reside in their two storey home in Thamesford. Both Justice and Kaidince Sweeney have muscular dystrophy which makes it hard for them to travel up and down stairs. The new home being built is a 1 000 square-foot bungalow, which will better suit the family's needs.
Duncan says the project has received lots of financial support from local businesses recently.
"We had a couple presentations. There was one from Vuteq, they gifted several thousand dollars they raised internally in their company to the project. Also Winsafe in Woodstock did an employee campaign where they raised a bunch of money and their corporation matched it".
