It's your chance to get rid of household items you can't normally put on the curb. It's the first of four household hazardous waste depots in Oxford County. Until noon today you can bring items such as paints, batteries and florescent lights to the works yard at 944 James Street in Woodstock to dispose of the items for free. Accepted Items include: Paints and coatings plus their containers Solvents Motor oil and oil filters plus their containers Batteries (auto, alkaline and rechargeable) Antifreeze and its containers Pharmaceutical Sharps (needles, lancets-must be in a sealed puncture proof container) Propane tanks and other pressurized containers Fluorescent light tubes and bulbs Pesticides, lawn fertilizers and their containers Household cleaners Aerosols Tires off the rim Computer peripherals including modems Scanners, typewriters Cellular phones, pagers telephones and answering machines Audio and video players and recorders (eg. MP3, cassette, digital) Cameras (web, digital, analog) Equalizers/(pre)amplifiers Radios, Receivers, Speakers and Turntables Video recorders and Video players/projectors, digital frames Personal hand held computers Desktop and Portable computers Computer peripherals (keyboards, mice, hard drives, optical drives - CD, Blueray, DVD, HD-DVD) Monitors and Televisions Desktop printing devices including desktop copiers and multi-function devices Floor standing printing devices including printers, photocopiers, multi-function devices Things we don't accept... Small household appliances such as irons, blenders, mixers, etc. Power tools and power equipment (Drills, saws, motors, corded equipment etc.) Headphones We do not accept PCB waste, Asbestos, Radioactive waste, Flares, fireworks and ammunition, Pathological waste, Open or leaky containers Container size limited to a 5 gallon pail.
