STRATFORD - Police say a 38 year old man from Stratford was impaired by drugs when he crashed into a hydro pole.
The single vehicle collision happened on Nile Street around 10 am on Tuesday. Nobody was injured, however; the officers on-scene suspected the driver to be impaired by drug. The driver was arrested and transported to Stratford Police Headquarters where he was subject to testing by a Drug Recognition Evaluation Officer.
Testing confirmed that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by a drug and he was subsequently charged with Operation While Impaired. The driver was further charged with several weapons related offences, as he was found to be in possession of a prohibited weapon upon being searched; as well as, several Highway Traffic Act offences.
