The Kedesh Maternity Home is still looking at the long term goal of a maternity home, but they are already offering programs for parents.
WOODSTOCK - The Kedesh Maternity Home is hoping to provide a safe place for pregnant woman to live when they are in crisis.
A board of directors has been set up and fundraising efforts have started to create this maternity home in Woodstock. It would provide a safe place for pregnant women and young mothers to go when they have no where else to turn. Board Chairmen Lindsay Nadeau tells Heart FM the maternity home is the long term goal.
They just launched a new program called Home with a Heart.
"The program would be appropriate for any single mother, single father, or any parent or guardian who finds that they need to improve their skills with home making and life skills training." There is no cost for people to take part in the program. They are hoping to start another session of this program in the Fall.
Nadeau says they are always looking for more volunteers and corporate sponsors.
"Right now we are looking for community sponsors to sponsor our Home with a Heart program that we are running right now in the community and it costs $2 500 to run a 12 week program with 5 members."
If you're interested in volunteering you can give Nadeau a call at 226-448-9664 or visit them online at www.kedesh.ca
