Municipalities and Oxford County are hoping to see more nominee submissions for the 2022 election.
OXFORD COUNTY - Municipalities and Oxford County are hoping to see more nominee submissions for the 2022 election.
When the nomination deadline hit this year, Oxford County saw at least thirteen different municipal council positions go acclaimed.
In addition, one position, Ward One of East Zorra Tavistock saw it's nomination deadline extended due to the lack of submissions.
Although the deadline has passed, Warden David Mayberry says there are other ways to volunteer.
"Every Municipality has various boards that are appointed usually on a cycle of council. So that's opportunities and for a lot of people, that's actually how they get their feet wet. They go on a few of these boards, and sort of figure out how things work and that kind of prepares them for taking the next step to move to council."
Mayberry said anyone looking to participate next election should pay close attention to this one.
"To make sure you get out to the all candidates meeting and listen to what people are saying and give them hard questions. Make sure that the people who put their name forward is worthy of your vote. You should scrutinize them. That's the job of the citizens.
