Tomorrow is the deadline for applications for the Woodstock Police Service Citizens' Police Academy
WOODSTOCK - Applications are still being accepted for the Woodstock Citizens' Police Academy.
So far they only have 7 applicants signed up and the deadline to submit is this Friday. Constable Nikki VanLeeuwen says this is a great opportunity for anyone in the community with an interest in policing.
"Basically we are looking for anyone in the City of Woodstock who is interested in learning about the police department and what we do, the purpose of the program is for citizens to understand policing and be able to share what happens in the department with the community."
Those selected for the academy will attend classes on what it's like to be on Uniform Patrol, get an inside look at the Criminal Investigation Bureau and Intelligence Section, Community relations, Forensic Identification, and a demonstration from the K-9 Unit and officer Striker. Participants will also have the opportunity to accompany an officer on a 4 hour ride-along to get a firsthand look at the front lines of crime fighting.
