WOODSTOCK - Oxford County has several resources available that can help you get through a bad day or even a mental health crisis.
CMHA Oxford has walk in clinics available throughout the county and the Oxford Elgin Child and Youth Centre has one just for youth on Tuesdays. Team Leader of the CMHA Peer Support Program and Recovery Sarah Albers tells Heart FM they always have a trained professional who is ready to help.
"First thing you can always walk into our building during office hours between 9-4 and our 24 hour crisis team can provide support to you. We also have a toll free number that can anyone can call, it is Reach Out line and that number is 1-877-339-8342 and that is 24/7 so anytime day or night you can receive support."
Albers also offers up this advice if you have a family member, friend or loved one who could benefit from these services but don't seem to want to utilize them.
"Walk alongside them, maybe attend a walk in clinic with them or encourage them that if they are having trouble making that call, maybe sit with them and make the call and come and do the introductions and just get that person connected. Often times the hardest thing to do is to make that initial call or to get up and go to a walk in clinic."
