Oxford County's Manager of Strategic Initiatives hopes to have the Zero Waste Plan out soon.
Oxford County's Manager of Strategic Initiatives is working to keep everyone in the loop when it comes to the Renewable Energy and Zero Waste Plans.
Jay Heaman attended Woodstock City Council recently where he told council members the Zero Waste Plan will hopefully be released this fall.
Heaman tells Heart FM it's important to keep council members in the loop.
"Kind of a critical path right now is to make sure that we're all on the same page. That everyone understands the challenges and opportunities that are coming up so the right decisions and the best decisions can be made with the best knowledge."
Heaman says a recent trip to San Francisco has really helped the plan forming process.
"They really know where they want to go in terms of no landfill, no incineration or at least as little as possible and really focus on the circular economy. The idea is eventually everything that we create should be recyclable and we should be able to divert everything to compost or to be able to be recycled."
While in California Heaman and Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch got to meet with representatives from 15 other municipalities from across Canada and the US to talk about zero waste and renewable energy.
