Hockey season is right around the corner and the Norwich Merchants will have a new look behind the bench this year.
NORWICH - Training camp is having a bit of a different look in Norwich this year.
Brad Wilkens is the new head coach taking over from Ed Dove this season. President Ken Gillanders says that Wilkens has a ton of experience as a player and a coach.
"He coached the Tillsonburg Thunder of the senior loop and won a championship there, he comes with a wealth of hockey experience and knowledge both as a player and a coach and assistant coach in the junior ranks."
Gillanders adds they also have a couple new assistants joining the fold.
"He's got a couple of wonderful experience, Kevin Wilkens and Justin Salt joining him who also have a lot of hockey knowledge and hockey experience and we are rearing to go this season."
Gillanders said the team decided after last season that they wanted to take a new direction and are happy with their choice to bring Wilkens into the fold.
