TAVISTOCK - A new splash pad opened in Tavistock, just in time for the Victoria Day long weekend.
The official ribbon cutting ceremony was held in Queen's Park on Friday with Oxford MPP Ernie Hardeman in attendance.
"It’s great to see people and the province working together to make projects like this one come to life in our communities. This wonderful spray pad certainly meets the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s mission to foster more active lifestyles and bring people together."
This splash pad was made possible thanks to a $150,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The community also fundraised over $100,000 towards the project.
East Zorra-Tavistock Mayor Phil Schaefer says the new splash pad is a welcome addition to the community.
"The residents, staff and Council of the Township of East Zorra-Tavistock are grateful for the generous support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation in helping to make the new Tavistock Spray Pad a reality. Their support, along with local businesses and residents, will ensure families have an additional facility for enjoyment and fun activity, without having to leave the Township."
