A 32-year old is in hospital after being stabbed in Woodstock early this morning. Police responded to the reports of a stabbing on Dundas near Wilson Street. After a search for the suspect, officers have arrested a 28-year-old man, who now faces multiple charges.
WOODSTOCK - An early morning call had Woodstock Police on high alert.
Around 4:20 a.m. today (Friday, July 28th) officers responded to the area of Dundas and Wilson Street after reports of a stabbing.
Upon arrival, a 32-year-old was found with a stab wound and transported to hospital and remains there with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Before Police got to the scene, the accused fled, but officers have since been able to locate and arrest a 28-year-old man.
The accused is facing charges of:
- Two (2) counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
- Two (2) counts of assault with a weapon;
- Aggravated assault;
- Assault causing bodily harm;
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance - opioid (other than heroin); and
- Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court.
The investigation is still ongoing, and Police are looking for a hunting style knife. They ask if anyone comes across a knife like this to not touch it, and call Woodstock Police immediately.
