Festive R.I.D.E. checks could happen anywhere and at any time of the day over the next month or so.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Oxford OPP has kicked off its Festive R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) Campaign for the holiday season.
Inspector Anthony Hymers, the Detachment Commander for Oxford OPP, says officers will be cracking down on drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
"Impaired driving remains one of the leading causes of motor vehicle collisions in Ontario. During the Festive R.I.D.E. campaign members of the Oxford OPP will be conducting RIDE checks across the county in an effort to keep our roads safe from impaired drivers."
The R.I.D.E. checks could happen anywhere and at any time of the day, not just during the evening hours.
Police say alcohol and drugs can stay in your system for quite some time, so you should make sure you're completely sober before you get behind the wheel.
The Oxford OPP officially launched the Festive R.I.D.E. Campaign in Tillsonburg yesterday and it will continue until January 1st, 2025.
