The former owner of Pigeon King International was in court on Friday for a hearing in his multi-million dollar fraud case. Arlan Galbraith is pledging to defend himself in a jury trial on charges of defrauding 1000 farmers of some $20-million. Galbraith ran Pigeon King International out of Waterloo where farmers purchased pigeons to produce offspring, only to sell them back to Galbraith for him to sell to new investors. There was no end market for the birds, making it an alleged ponzi scheme. Several local farmers were caught up in the business, losing tens of thousands of dollars. In court on Friday, Galbraith complained that he can't properly prepare his case because court orders prevent him from contacting his former clients. A trial is scheduled to begin in November.
