A mosquito trap found in Ingersoll has tested positive for the West Nile virus for the first time in five years. Public Health is reminding you to follow a few simple steps to protect yourself against mosquito bites and help prevent contracting the virus: - Wear light-coloured clothing, long sleeves and pants around dawn and dusk - Avoid using scented products that attract mosquitoes - Use a bug spray with 30% DEET for adults - Reduce mosquito breeding grounds around the home Oxford County Public Health & Emergency Services will be increasing surveillance and control efforts, including larvaciding of public catch basins, to reduce the number of mosquitoes in the area.
