The annual Pottahawk Point gathering is happening this Sunday and the Norfolk OPP has some tips to make sure everyone has a safe and fun time.
LAKE ERIE - Lots of people will be heading out on Lake Erie this weekend for the annual gathering at Pottahawk Point.
Acting Inspector Jeff McNorgan with the Norfolk OPP says officers will be conducting random boat checks on Sunday to make sure everyone is following the rules and have everything they need.
"We want everyone who will be attending Pottahawk to behave in a safe and responsible manner and to prioritize their safety and the safety of others."
Everyone on board should be wearing a lifejacket and the driver must also have their boating licence with them. You should have a phone or radio on board, so you can call someone for help if need be.
Police would like to remind everyone about the dangers of impaired operation and you should always check the weather forecast before you go out on the water.
You should never give random people rides to Pottahawk Point, so no one gets stranded out there.
