The Woodstock Curling Club will be hosting the Ontario Men's and Women's Senior Provincial Championships on February 20th and 21st.
WOODSTOCK - You don't have to travel far to see some world class curling this weekend.
The Woodstock Curling Club is hosting the Ontario Men's and Women's Senior Provincial Championships. Final round robin draws are happening all day today and then tomorrow they will have the playoffs in the morning and the finals starting around 1PM. Co Chair Murray Coulter tells Heart FM they have a lot of big names in Woodstock this weekend.
"There are a lot of recognizable names, for example Bryan Cochrane, who has been to the Ontario tankard a number of times and won the Ontario tankard in 2003, he's one of the teams curling now from the men's side."
Admission to watch the action is free and Coulter says they will be hosting a lunch each day and the bar is open. The other Co-chair Bob Axon says they have gotten some big crowds so far for the games.
"We are expecting the crowds to grow throughout the weekend and would encourage everyone in Woodstock to consider coming down, we still have space for lot's of people, we have lot's of food at the curling club and it's very party like in that environment."
