Over $38,100 worth of provincial funding will be going to the Thames Talbot Land Trust, in order to assist nine local wetlands restoration projects in Oxford County.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Ford Government is setting aside $6.9-million to assist 100 wetlands restoration and enhancement projects across Ontario.
Oxford MPP Ernie Hardeman says $38,310 will be going to the Thames Talbot Land Trust, to help nine wetlands restoration projects in Oxford County.
"I’m pleased to see our government investing in our local wetlands. These lands are important ecosystems that provide many natural services for humans and many other species."
The money will also help manage non-native invasive species including Phragmites, Reed Canary Grass, Garlic mustard, and Buckthorn.
The Ford Government's Wetlands Conservation Partner Program is a five-year program with a $30-million price tag, making it one of the largest investments in wetland restoration in Ontario's history.
