The City of Woodstock and South West Oxford are having a public consultation meeting this Thursday night in Beachville to talk about a potential boundary adjustment.
WOODSTOCK - The City of Woodstock and South West Oxford are one step closer to boundary adjustment within the County of Oxford.
Official notice has been given about the proposal. The City of Woodstock wants to expand its boundary to absorb lands in all or part of Lot Gore Concession BF, located north of Karn Road. Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch explains why the City wants the land.
"The proposed boundary adjustment is for future residential lands, so the City has been experiencing tremendous growth recently with employment lands and jobs. We have many families coming to the City, we have intensification projects happening with apartment buildings being built and we need to make sure we are prepared for the future, for new subdivisions, so we can welcome more families to the Friendly City."
Birtch says everyone is invited to a public consultation meeting happening in August on the subject.
"This is a chance for neighbouring property owners who may have concerns about future development and this will help ensure that they understand what the process is. Things are not a done deal at this point, there is a lot of work that still needs to go into this. We are there to listen to the residents concerns and make sure this is something that is great for the entire community."
The proposal calls for the land to annexed from the Township to the City starting on January 1st, 2020.
A Public Information and Consultation Meeting will be held on:
Date: Thursday, August 22, 2019
Time: 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm (a formal presentation of the proposal will be given at 6:30 pm)
