Proceeds from the yard sale, along with the bottle drive will go towards the Trucking Convoy for Special Olympics. It goes from 8:00 am to 11:00 am today on Dundas Street.
WOODSTOCK - A yard sale and bottle can drive for the annual Convoy for Special Olympics is happening today.
Matt Morrison is a truck driver for Steadfast Systems and his family is organizing the event.
He says the event tends to get a good turnout.
"Carriers are generally pretty receptive and over the years Challenger Freight is a great example. I was just talking to one of their drivers and they have over 20 trucks coming this year. So that just goes to show that the fleets make a huge difference. "
The yard sale and bottle drive is among the events leading up to the convoy, which is set to take place at the Paris Fairgrounds on September 14th and it is open to everyone. Drivers can register their trucks to participate in the convoy and the public are welcome to come meet the Special Olympians.
Morrison adds it's also nice have the athletes in attendance.
"To the athletes that come, the older ones have been coming since the beginning and its nice to go and see them. Social media it's actually made it more interesting because you can keep up with what their doing all year."
Today's fundraiser is happening at 137 Dundas St from 8:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m. All proceeds are going towards the Special Olympics.
The convoy is on September 14th and more details on the event can be found on their website.
