It was a good start to the new year for local home sales. 70 homes sold last month, which on the surface isn't a huge number. But historically, January is a slower month and hitting the 70 unit mark has only happened a handful of times in the Woodstock-Ingersoll district. 70 units was also a 19% increase in sales from January 2012. The number of available home on the market right now is down from last year, but Real Estate Board President William Cattle says it's still a pretty even-keeled market. "It's more of a balanced market at the moment. There were 494 active residential listings at the board at the end of January, which is down 5% from the end of January 2012." The average price of a home sold last month was just over $218,000.
