Members of the public are welcome to come on out to Hillview United Cemetery today for a rededication ceremony.
WOODSTOCK - A rededication ceremony will be held at Hillview United Cemetery today.
The whole community was shocked when 155 headstones were pushed over on May 9th 2018.
Administrator Sue Cayan says they expected the repair costs to be in the thousands, but they didn't have to pay a cent in the end.
"Once the monument companies did their work, they made the decision when they were finished to donate all of their services which blew us all away.
Two local fundraisers were also held for the cause; including an event at College Ave Church and a bake sale hosted by two young girls.
The ceremony will get underway at 2 p.m. and everyone is welcome to come. Cayan says it will be very exciting and informative.
"Grace (Boscariol) and Lilly (Foord-Davis), they were the two little girls who held the bake sale, they are going to be there and they are going to take part in the service which is really exciting. One of the monument companies will be there also and we'll listen to them about their work."
Cayan adds the ceremony should last about 40 minutes and you should bring your own lawn chair for seating.
UPDATE (10:57 a.m.) - Due to the rain the rededication ceremony has been moved indoors at College Ave United Church. Things will get started at 2 p.m.
