Residents of The Village of Sally Creek are celebrating the latest addition to their community. The recreation centre officially opened this morning with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Larry More and his wife have lived in the community for seven years and are very pleased with the latest facility to open in their neighbourhood, "the recreation centre is beautiful. Cliff and his partners have done a wonderful job on this place. The place is going to be an outstanding building for the residents up here in Sally Creek". Dr. Doug Goodbun, who was the Oxford Regional Centre Administrator for a number of years touched on his thoughts of how the heritage of the building was maintained, "I think they've done a superb job here in trying to keep the old part of the buildings and the history that was here. When I look around this dining hall and the old kitchen, the bricks are the same; of course the decor has changed, but the bricks are the same. They've done a superb job at trying to keep it together". Developer Cliff Zaluski says today's event marks the end of phase one of three for the centre's completion, which includes a banquet hall with catering kitchen, bar, lounge and card room. When completed, the centre will host a pool, saunas, fitness centre, workshops and crafts rooms. Local dignitaries, the developer, representatives from Claysam and Geranium Homes along with residents of Sally Creek joined in on the ribbon cutting ceremony.
