Land outside the southern boarder of Woodstock won't be getting more of the city's Sanitary Collection System. That comes after a vote that defeated a recommendation to extend the system further than it already is. Two years ago, two residences were approved for this extension. But Mayor Pat Sobeski says it has to stop somewhere. "We`re always going to be tested by people on the boarder of the city wanting to take advantage of hooking into our services. But there`s a reason why taxes are higher in a municipality than in the rural areas. Because in the rural communities most people are on septic, in the city you`re on waste water services. So that principle has to be protected." Sobeski adds, there is a rule that if a residence is close to a boarder and the Board of Health confirms that system needs it, then an extension would be approved.
