Health officials in the Durham Region and the Halton Region each confirmed a new case of the Omicron COVID-19 variant yesterday, bringing the province's total to six.
ONTARIO - Ontario has now confirmed six cases of the Omicron COVID-19 variant.
The two newest cases were reported yesterday. One is in the Durham Region and the other is in the Halton Region.
Halton Public Health is also reporting two suspected cases of Omicron. One of the patients had recently travelled to Nigeria and the other patient is one of their close contacts. The most recent confirmed case in Halton Region had also been in close contact with the person who had travelled to Nigeria.
A COVID-19 outbreak has also been declared at the Toronto East Detention Centre in Scarborough. Four inmates have tested positive for COVID-19 and a staff member has tested positive for the Omicron variant.
