Chilly Charlie saw his shadow this morning and the Quality Hotel and Suites has he best chili in Woodstock.
WOODSTOCK - Chilly Charlie saw his shadow today in Woodstock, meaning we will have to brace ourselves for 6 more weeks of winter, that is of course if winter ever arrives.
Hundreds of people visited the South Gate Centre this morning for a pancake breakfast and to see Woodstock's very own prognosticator. Mayor Trevor Birtch tells Heart FM they might have to adjust some of their winter budget plans with the news from Chilly Charlie.
"Well we had just had on our council agenda regarding our salt management and what we have used over the years, and now with today's prediction, I fear we may have more salt to use in the coming weeks, so we will see how it goes with the budget."
Chairmen of the organizing committee at the South Gate Centre Gill Chambers says he was amazed to see such a great crowd this morning.
"We had a bad turnout last year, because we had such a snowstorm but this year was wonderful, I mean look at how many people we had lined up for breakfast this morning."
They also lined up for some amazing chili today at the 2nd Annual Chilly Charlie Cookoff at the South Gate Centre. 7 local chefs from restaurants in Woodstock competed to see who has the best chili in Woodstock. Hundreds of people came out and were treated to a delicious lunch. This year the winner was a unanimous choice from the panel of celebrity judges and the people who all voted for the Quality Hotel and Suites.
