The Smoke Free Movie Night is back on with a new time and a new film.
Oxford County Public Health has reschedule their Smoke Free Outdoor Movie Night.
Finding Dory will be playing on an inflatable screen at the base of Southside Park Hill on Saturday September 24th at Dusk. Public Health Nurse Kelly Vanderhoeven tells Heart FM they rescheduled the event for Saturday September 24th after the event in August got rained out.
"We're going to be showing Finding Dory and it is not available on DVD, whereas our original movie The Jungle Book will be available on DVD at the end of this month and we wanted to make sure we showed a movie that people don't have access to."
Vanderhoeven explains why they select a movie that does not feature a main character smoking every year for this event.
"The more kids and teens that see smoking in movies, the more likely they are to start smoking themselves."
Between 2004 and 2013, 57% of the top grossing movies featured on screen smoking and about 86% of those movies were rated for youth.
Although the movie is set to start at dusk, there will be games and activities starting at 7 p.m. and there will be free popcorn served. Admission is free but moviegoers are asked to bring a non perishable food donation.
