Those hoping for an expansion for South Gate Centre will have to wait a little longer.
WOODSTOCK - The expansion plans for South Gate Centre have been postponed.
As a result, Woodstock City Council and South Gate Centre have cancelled their partnership and funding request for now.
Mayor Trevor Birtch explains why.
"So at this point South Gate has asked to withdraw their application and Woodstock City Council is asking that as they continue to refine future plans that they rely on some of the resources that we have here at this city to help guide."
However the Council wanted them and the public to be sure that they are still authorized to consider expansion concepts into Southside Park.
Parks and Recreation Director Brian Connors says the plans are still moving forward despite this setback.
"The South Gate Centre expansion, although they retracted their original plan is still moving forward. The CAO put in a report where he's going to be behind keeping it going so that's a good thing, it's not like it's fallen off the table completely."
Something both sides were looking at was an indoor gym that can be used by the seniors, as well as members of the public.
