A full house was on hand to hear the State of the City address from the Mayor of Woodstock today.
WOODSTOCK - The Mayor of Woodstock gave his annual State of the City address this afternoon for the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce.
Trevor Birtch talked about the advancements we are making in the environment, the community and the economy. He tells Heart FM some of the things they are doing to promote the environment.
"We have also been looking at our renewable energy strategy and what you'll find is if you focus on the environment and you do things that are good for the future, being a good steward for the future of our environment, it also helps our community and it will spur our economy."
Birtch says people are noticing the work we are doing and businesses are looking to come to town and set up shop because of this vision. He notes things are looking really good for the economy in Woodstock right now.
"Woodstock has had an amazing year, 2015 our building permits for residents was the same as the City of Brantford, we far surpassed our peers like St. Thomas and Stratford and we don't see any slow down, the first quarter of 2016 has been record setting as well."
The Mayor also talked about what it is like to live in this community and encourages everyone to promote Woodstock every chance you get.
"So many great agencies, non profits, church groups, government agencies that are helping to improve the quality of life of everyone in this city and one thing that has been clear in the past year has been the dedication of city council in informing people about the different community events and how they can participate."
