SWOX Mayor David Mayberry is a fan of photo radar as council looks at ways to curb speeding in the Township, especially through Beachville.
SOUTH-WEST OXFORD - South-West Oxford Council is looking at a range of methods to get people to slow down including photo radar.
Residents are worried about people speeding in the Township, especially through Beachville. Council heard that speeds through the village averaged at least 15 kilometres an hour over the posted limit of 50.
Mayor David Mayberry says he is a big fan of photo radar, but he says road speeds may also have to be adjusted. Other methods to slow people down include speed signs and an increased provincial police presence.
The issue of photo radar is on the agenda for next weeks County Council meeting. Previously Mayberry and former Zorra Mayor, current East Zorra Tavistock Councillor Margaret Lupton led the charge to get the units a few years ago. Their Council mates did not agree and the County did not purchase any.
