Oxford OPP are asking you to THINK Before you send a message online today.
Today is international safer Internet day and cyber safety awareness. Inspector Robyn MacEachern tells Heart FM what THINK stands for.
"So T.H.I.N.K is our encouragement to ask yourself is it True, is it Hurtful, is it Illegal, is it necessary and is it Kind and if you think before you send to ensure your safety in the online world."
She says the OPP deal with calls every day relating to cyber bullying. It used to be, if you were getting teased at school you would go home for the day and that would be it, now with social media and smart phones you can be harassed 24/7.
"Cyber bullying online can have some devastating consequences, because quite right you can't escape it,
MacEachern says if it doesn't pass the T.H.I.N.K test you may be breaking the law.
