A number of players will be returning to the Tavistock Braves for another season of exciting Junior C hockey.
TAVISTOCK - The Tavistock Braves are gearing up for another intense season of Junior C hockey action.
With a number of key players returning and an infusion of young talent, the team is ready to compete this year. General Manager Bob Zehr says they are expecting it to be another competitive year in the Midwestern Junior C.
"You know in goal we got Ben Larner back, he has been one of the best goaltenders over the past couple of years so we are really banking on him. We have 3 defencemen and 9 forwards returning from last year, so that is a pretty good start when you are trying to put a team together."
Zehr says they are really looking forward to their home opener against Wellesley on Friday September 16th. Zehr says the league promises to be very strong once again this year.
"I honestly believe it will be very competitive - our team is going to be better I think. I think Wellesley will be better, I'm not sure what is happening down in Norwich and Woodstock but I think they will be improving as well and then you got the defending champs Ayr, and of course New Hamburg is going to have a strong team again."
